The electrical connection is provided on the side surface of the metal bolt on the back side of the base plate. A few seconds of hot water warms this electrode and makes it very easy to insert. Its gradual taper also adds to the comfort of insertion. Both warm and cool temperature extremes can produce interesting effects with this plug as well. This is a unipolar electrode, which means that it must be used in conjunction with another electrode.
